Unforgettable Field Trip Adventures

Fun Memories from Recent Field Trips

This year at Butter and Egg Adventures we had schools from all over the state bring their students for a fun day of adventure! Our field trips are packed with fun activities that kids don’t get to experience everyday such as zip lining, a 35-foot rock wall, canoeing and peddle boating, laser tag, games, and more! Whether it was 2nd graders or 12th graders, we were having a blast! Below we are going to highlight two of the groups we had recently.

Field Trips At Butter And Egg Adventures

G.W. Long Elementary was with us in April and we had a blast with them! The students did 3 zip lines, conquered the climbing wall, battled it out in outdoor laser tag, and played some cooperative games. They played a game called Bull Ring in which the kids worked together to lift a golf ball on a silver ring and transport it to and from their main base – it’s way harder than it sounds. The kids did exceptionally well!

Field Trips At Butter And Egg AdventuresStraughn Middle school brought their eighth graders all the way from Andalusia to zip line, climb the rock wall, play laser tag, and canoe and peddle boat. This group seemed like experts at canoeing because not a single canoe tipped! Everyone stayed dry during the waterfront activities – minus a little bit of splashing. Later in the day these middle schoolers got to participate in some open rec and play Gaga Ball, sand volleyball, and kick ball!

Field Trips At Butter And Egg AdventuresWe had a ton of fun with all the other schools as well! Just to name a few we had Wicksberg’s 2nd graders, Capitol Height’s middle schoolers, Greenville’s elementary kids, Pike Liberty’s 2nd and 3rd graders, and so so many more! Each and every field trip was fun, unique, and left our staff with memories for years to come! We hope everyone that had a field trip with us this year enjoyed it and finished up their school year on a positive note! The Tower and High Team Challenge Course now Open!

The Tower And High Team Challenge Course At Butter And Egg Adventures In Troy, AlabamaButter and Egg Adventures, located in Troy, Alabama, is overjoyed to announce the grand opening of its latest feature, The Tower and High Team Challenge Course. This new structure offers both an adventure and team-building activity for all individuals. Adventure enthusiasts can make use of the 57-foot structure for climbing, rappelling, and the use of the Quick Flight device, which offers a unique free fall jump experience. Furthermore, the facility provides an excellent opportunity for corporate, school, college, and scout groups interested in a distinctive team-building experience. With three levels featuring two elements per level, groups will have to work together to accomplish each element successfully.

Additionally, for individuals in a group of two or more, Butter and Egg Adventures offers The Tower only option for only $20.00 each. This fee includes one hour to climb the wall and makes use of the Quick Flight device for multiple jumps, which can be added to either the “Zip Lines Only” or the “Aerial Adventure Tour.” Groups of four or more can opt for the new “Challenge Tour on The Tower,” which includes climbing, jumps, and taking on the six elements of the High Team Challenge Course.

Moreover, the team-building options at Butter and Egg Adventures have been enhanced with this new facility. Individuals can now add High Elements to their Low Elements programs for $25.00 per person or purchase the High Elements separately for the same price. What is Butter and Egg Adventures

How did Butter and Egg Adventures come to existence?

This post is the first of several that will help you find out more about Butter and Egg Adventures.  First, we probably need to start off by telling you how and why we were started.  So, with that said, let’s go. 

Butter And Egg Adventures Front Entrance Back in 2001, owner Ron Pierce began offering baseball camps to area youth featuring half-day baseball training with half-day outdoor recreation using the existing swimming pool, lake and spacious grounds for group games. With the addition of a climbing wall and a single Zipline over the lake, the experience became known as “Camp Butter and Egg,” aptly named for the road on which we’re located. Through the years, baseball camps expanded to include summer sports camps featuring tennis, golf, and softball instruction. At the same time, the camp added additional recreation fields, more ziplines, challenge courses, a camp lodge, and enhanced waterfront activities.  

Once co-owner Susan Pierce joined the staff full-time in 2007, the addition of teambuilding, expanded food services, and hosting non-athletic groups started to take shape. In 2012, with a rapidly-growing business focused on group recreation and overnight retreats, the decision was made to discontinue sports training and focus all energies on developing a unique outdoor recreation and retreat center serving from two people to groups of several hundred persons at once.

Why “Butter and Egg?”

According to local sources, the road was named for the practice of area farmers selling their homemade butter and harvested eggs along the roadside to “city folks” from Troy who traveled down the “butter-and-egg-road” to make their purchases. We’re told that the farmers who actually occupied the site on which we now operate, struggled to make a living with their crops so they actually began the practice of selling butter and eggs, which later caught on with other local farmers.  Bicycle In Trees At Butter And Egg Adventrues
